Police managed to release the deer which was stuck between railings

A muntjac deer was rescued by police after getting itself stuck in metal fence railings.

The Essex Police, external officers were on their way back from executing a warrant in Witham when they pulled over to help the stricken animal.

They used specialist entry equipment normally used to open doors to separate the bars of the fence.

Police said the "distressed" creature was released back into the wild.
