Police make murder arrest over woman's disappearance

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 74-year-old woman who has not been seen since November.

Bedfordshire Police have said Annette Smith, from West Wing, Fairfield Hall, near Stotfold, was last seen on or about 11 November.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and was in police custody for questioning.

Det Ch Insp Katie Dounias said: "We are still very much in the midst of this complex investigation."

She added that the force was "interested in any information which could help us piece together exactly what happened to Annette."
