A road rage driver who left a man with multiple fractures following a dispute has been jailed.

Tyran Hands assaulted the 77-year-old man in Belle Vue Lane, Blidworth, on 14 May.

He flew into a rage and punched the man, knocking him to the floor, after a confrontation, police said.

He was jailed for one year and eight months at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday after previously admitting a charge of grievous bodily harm.

Nottinghamshire Police said the victim had honked his horn at Hands and overtook him following a near collision.

The 27-year-old then followed the man until he pulled over nearby.

Despite having his own young child in the car with him, Hands confronted the other man, who remained in his vehicle, and verbally abused him.

Hands had started to walk back to his car when the other man got out of his vehicle and attempted to take a picture of him.

Police said Hands then punched the man in the face, knocking him over and causing his hearing aid to fly on to the ground.

The man was left with multiple facial fractures, including to his eye socket and cheek bone.

Det Con Chloe Baugh said: "The level of violence and aggression demonstrated by Hands that day was deplorable and completely over the top.

"His actions provided a horrible example of how quickly a road rage incident can escalate and how much damage it could feasibly cause."
