A horse that got stuck in a 6ft (1.82m) ditch after jumping a fence in Devon has been rescued.

Fire crews were called to a farm at Staverton, near Dartington, at about 08:00 BST after the horse was unable to free itself, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said.

It had landed in the gully after the jump, firefighters said.

Firefighters - with the help of a vet - put the horse in a harness before it was lifted onto its feet.

The service said the horse was doing well.
