A man was hurt as gunshots were fired on a Birmingham street, police said.
The shots were fired on Frederick Street in the Jewellery Quarter at about 03:00 GMT, and at about the same time a crash involving two cars was reported on the same street.
Officers said a short time later, a man believed to be in the area at the time turned up at a hospital with a leg injury that was not serious.
Police said they were "working to establish exactly what happened".
Officers said they were "in the early stages of our investigations and are in the process of carrying out CCTV and other enquiries".
