Woman dies in supermarket car park crash

A woman has died after a crash in a supermarket car park involving a car and two pedestrians.

Nottinghamshire Police said emergency services were called to Waitrose, in Ossington Way, Newark, at 13:41 BST on Friday.

A woman, in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said another woman was taken to hospital for treatment, and her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The force said investigation work was continuing at the scene and that no arrests had been made.

Sgt Craig Luckett said: "This was a tragic and distressing incident, and our thoughts are with the victim and her family.

"We are currently working to understand exactly what happened and have already spoken with a number of witnesses.

"We ask that anyone with additional information or footage from the scene shares it with us soon as possible."
