Survivors of domestic abuse are being given smart doorbells as part of a new programme.

Nottinghamshire Police said it was working with non-profit organisation Tara’s Angels to offer Ring cameras to victims of abuse and other crimes.

The force said it was providing the items "on a case-by-case basis to various victims".

Tara's Angels - which was set up in memory of Tara Newbold, who died in 2016 - is appealing for donations so it can buy more cameras to help people.

Bev Turner, Ms Newbold's aunt, said the family was working with police "to ensure the donations we receive reach the women at most risk of serious harm".

“Domestic abuse is real and absolutely devastating to women, their children, and their extended family," she said.

“We are extremely fortunate and forever grateful to our many social media supporters and to Ring who generously donated security and safety equipment to our cause."
