Police officers have appealed for witnesses after a man was hit with a car as he tried to flee an attack.

Essex Police was called to reports of a man being assaulted outside a restaurant called Buffalo on Station Road, Clacton-on-Sea, at 02:50 BST on 21 July.

The victim was approached by two men who got out of a dark coloured BMW and tried to punch him, but when he fled the car was driven at him and hit him, the force said.

One of the suspects was described as wearing a white T-shirt and dark bottoms, the other suspect was described as wearing all dark clothing.

The force asked anyone with information to contact police.
