A man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged serious assault in Leeds city centre.

Officers were called to an incident on Call Lane in the early hours of Wednesday 31 July which had left a man needing hospital treatment, police said.

The man, 39, remained in a serious but stable condition, according to West Yorkshire Police.

Leon Richards, 19, of Melton Road in Wakefield, was due to appear before Leeds Magistrates Court on Friday in connection with the alleged attack, police said.
