Crews still tackling heath fire hot spots
- Published
Firefighters are continuing to tackle hotspots at a heath fire, a day after it broke out.
The fire was discovered on Monday in dense foliage, shortly before 06:00 BST, at Boveridge Heath, Verwood.
It spread across 1.3 hectares (3 acres) of the heath and had been burning for some time before it could be seen, the fire service said.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) said crews would remain at the site on Tuesday dealing with hot spots as the fire was so deep-seated.
The fire service said an investigation into the cause would start once the fire was out.
People are being urged to avoid the area while crews remain at the heath.
