Children living with long-term, life-limiting conditions or bereavement have taken to the stage in Brighton.

The Crawley-based charity Forward Facing, which supports children and their families across Sussex, organised the craft and arts event at Brighton Dome.

The children and their families took part in an Abba-themed day, marking 50 years since the band won Eurovison at the venue.

Candice Konig, from the charity, said families were there to "have fun and make magical memories".

Families were invited to borrow costumes, have their hair styled and their faces painted.

They were entertained with music, workshops and games.

Vicki, who is mother to five-year-old Faith who cannot see or hear, said: "It's nice for her to be able to meet up with friends.

"It's often a challenge when you're in and out of hospital."

Rachel, who attended with her daughter Shami, said: "It's nice to meet with others who are in the same position and have a laugh, giggle and play and forget everything else."

A charity spokesperson said: "Many of our families struggle to find days out where their needs are truly considered, where they can relax and where all members of their family can be entertained."
