A speeding driver who killed a woman after crashing into the back a car at 100mph (160.9km/h) has been jailed for nine years.
Mohammed Asif, 47, pleaded guilty to causing the death of Marzena Kaczorowska by dangerous driving on the M42 near Solihull in 2022.
He was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday and disqualified from driving for four years after his release.
Ms Kaczorowska's partner Najmul Wlodzimierz described his loneliness without his partner of 21 years as "crippling".
Asif hit the back of the car in which Ms Kaczorowska was a front seat passenger on 3 September 2022, shortly before 03:00.
Mr Wlodzimierz was driving to Birmingham Airport when they were struck on the northbound carriageway as they were about to exit junction 6.
His partner, 53, was taken to hospital but died two weeks later with severe head and chest injuries.
Mr Wlodzimierz, who has made a full recovery from his injuries, described his "life partner" as "wonderful".
"I was taking Marzena to Birmingham Airport so she could go and see her family in Poland," he said.
'Lost without her'
“This was a journey that changed my life forever. Out of nowhere we were struck by a speeding car."
He added he was struggling to adapt to life without her.
"I wake up alone, I go to work alone, I come home alone and spend the evening alone.
"I have lost the person I used to travel the world with and all I have now is memories. I am totally lost without her and the loneliness is crippling. I am just existing without her."
Asif, from Coventry, was also ordered by the court to take an extended test before driving again.
