Work to upgrade a Leicestershire town centre is due to get under way later this month.

Charnwood Borough Council is set to carry out changes to Bull Ring and Hall Croft in Shepshed, including adding a new bus shelter, litter bins and lighting.

It is the second phase of a plan to revamp the town centre, with upgrade works to Market Place completed in March.

The phase two improvements, due to start on 24 June, are expected to take between six and eight weeks.

New paving, benches, planters, cycle stands and improved lighting will be added in Bull Ring.

Once the work is done, there will also be a new bus shelter, information point and pocket park.

In Hall Croft, the borough council says the work will focus on the area near the Co-op and library, and will include the repainting of railings, benches, cycle stands and litter bins.

Benches and planters will be cleaned, with upgrades for the street lighting.

The planters will also be refreshed, with two new trees planted.

Disruption will be "kept to a minimum" while the work is carried out, the authority added.
