Two men have been arrested after police discovered cannabis grows and a range of weapons at a derelict bingo hall and social club.

Warwickshire Police received reports of four men trying to force entry into the building on Camphill Road in Nuneaton, just after 04:00 BST on Tuesday, with the lock on the front door reportedly snapped.

The force said they arrested two men who attempted to escape on foot.

Closer inspection of the property revealed a cannabis grow in progress, with about 112 plants in total in two rooms.

Police said the men discovered were trying to gain access to disrupt or steal from the operation

Also reportedly discovered inside the property were a cutlass-style sword, a large hatchet, a tomahawk, several meat cleavers, a 10-inch “zombie knife”, a six-inch kitchen knife, and three crowbars.

Police said the men discovered were not believed to be directly associated with the grow, and instead were trying to gain access to disrupt or steal from the operation.

Following this, a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old, both from Coventry, were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
