Planning permission granted for 50 homes

Plans to build 50 homes as an extension to a new-build estate in Louth have been agreed by East Lindsey District Council.

The additional houses will be built on land alongside a row of single garages south of Chestnut Drive.

The council’s planning committee granted permission for KCS Development LTD to build the homes during a meeting on Thursday.

Supporters of the scheme said it was a “logical placement” but not everyone on the planning committee agreed.

Independent councillor Terry Aldridge argued that the development demonstrated “over-intensification,” which he felt would put strain on the local infrastructure.

Mr Aldridge also highlighted the objections raised by Louth Town Council on the grounds of traffic generation, access and highway safety.

Labour councillor David Hall proposed that the plans should be rejected because there was a lack of access for emergency vehicles. He was also concerned about waste capacity, despite reassurances from Anglian Water.

However, the plans were ultimately approved. Conservative councillor Neil Jones pointed out that the additional homes were a “logical placement in the middle of an existing housing estate”.

“I cannot see any reason why this should not be approved,” he said.
