A steel-frame structure is now in place for the new Cleethorpes lifeboat station.

Work on the project was put on hold in February 2023 when original contractor Tolent PLC went into administration and while the RNLI appointed a replacement - Wynne Construction.

Visible progress has now been made on the site at Brighton Slipway, after a crane helped with the installation of the blue structure.

The existing lifeboat station remains in operation in the meantime.

The new station will have its own slipway for the launch and recovery of the lifeboat. At the moment, the lifeboat must cross a road near a blind bend.

Changing and training facilities will also be improved, and the RNLI shop will move to the site.

Plans for the new lifeboat station were originally announced in 2021 and had a price tag of £3.5m.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service understands that the rest of the work will continue straight after the steelwork has been completed.

Concrete slipway sections are under construction and will arrive in the coming weeks.
