A woman has been flown to the UK for hospital treatment after a crash involving an ambulance in the Isle of Man's capital on Sunday.

The pedestrian was injured in the incident on Ballakermeen Road, in Douglas, at about midday.

The Isle of Man Constabulary confirmed two ambulance crew members were also taken to Noble's Hospital for treatment following the crash, which involved "several other vehicles".

A police spokeswoman said officers were working with the ambulance service to "investigate the circumstances of the collision".

The force has appealed for members of the public who witnessed the crash or have CCTV or dash camera footage but have not yet spoken to officers to come forward.

Manx Care said the island's health care provider would "be ensuring that the level of ambulance coverage will be unaffected".

Manx Utilities has confirmed one of its vehicles, which had been parked and unoccupied at the time, was damaged in the incident.
