Worcestershire Royal Hospital has introduced visiting restrictions after an outbreak of norovirus.

It has imposed the restrictions on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Aconbury 0 Ward and Aconbury 1 Ward.

The Worcester hospital said visitors would only be allowed on to those wards on compassionate grounds until further notice.

Norovirus is one of the most common and contagious stomach bugs in the UK, causing diarrhoea and vomiting.

Those who wish to visit one of the affected units have been urged to speak to the nurse in charge in advance.

No other visiting restrictions are currently in place.
