A fresh bid has been made to turn a former health centre into flats after three previous applications were turned down.

The latest proposals for Abbey Hulton Clinic would create 12 self-contained flats in the two-storey building on Leek Road.

A previous application for 14 flats was rejected by Stoke-on-Trent City Council over parking concerns.

This latest conversion proposal would generate less traffic and parking demand than when the building was a health clinic, said the applicant.

The other two rejected planning applications proposed 17 flats and 16 flats, respectively.

Concerns were raised that potential residents would not have “an acceptable living environment” because of the internal floorspace.

The latest proposal makes an "appropriate reuse of a vacant building," according to the applicant, and they add it would contribute to the need for affordable one-bed rental property in the city.

A decision will be made in the future by the council.
