A determined 11-year-old runner has been presented with a certificate for completing his 250th Parkrun.

Alfred has been taking part in the 2km (1.25-mile) Junior Parkrun at Eaton Park, Norwich, since he was four.

He was presented with his certificate and a wristband by Norwich's Lord Mayor, James Wright.

"He was really excited - I think he knew that it was quite a big thing that not many people get to 250 and he is really proud that this is an achievement," she said.

The family initially starting going to Parkruns for a "bit of a routine on a Sunday" but Alfred ended up falling in love with running and has even completed them across the UK.

"He is very pleased with himself - he has been working hard to get to this point," said Louise."

"He's still only little - he is only 11 - but it is nice that he has got that drive to do something and stick to it."

Alfred hopes to complete 400 Parkruns before he turns 14 and said he would not have been able to complete his 250th run without support from the volunteers.

"That is his goal - to have the most Junior Parkruns, run by anybody," said Louise.

"He is quite competitive. Come rain or shine... he is always trying to get us out of the house."
