A driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a crash involving a police car.

Kent Police said an officer driving a marked patrol car was responding to an urgent call at 00.37 BST on Sunday when it collided with a white Ford Focus on the A2 London Road.

The officer and two occupants in the Focus suffered minor injuries in the incident in Teynham, near Sittingbourne.

The 39-year-old driver of the Focus was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and bailed to return to the police station.

Kent Police said the patrol car had its sirens sounding and blue lights illuminated at the time of the collision.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are appealing, external to any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward.
