The open road: "The A82 at Glencoe, the road north stretching from Glasgow to Inverness," says Frank McCafferty.

Peak viewing: "Hiking along the ridge to An Socach just north of Loch Mullardoch," says Calum Goodfellow.

A sly smile: "I managed to photograph this beautiful fox enjoying the last of the evening sun whilst out for a walk in Aberdeen," says Laura Howell. "I'm currently undergoing chemotherapy, and haven't been very well recently, so to have been able to see this beautiful creature really brought a much needed smile to my face. I hope it makes others smile too."

Lightbulb moment: "Taken on a glorious May afternoon on Scalpay overlooking Eilean Glas Lighthouse," says Michael Harley. "When the sail boat came into frame it was a total gift of a picture."

Pecking order: Woodpeckers with beaks loaded with grubs and flies were spotted by Joyce Grieves at Findo Gask.

Mist opportunity: "Lovely Saturday morning, 21C in Troon, no clouds at all," says Konrad Slowik. "When we arrived at the beach car park we met thick, cold mist on the beach. Mist covered the sun, sky, and even dog walkers couldn't find theirs dogs. Unusual view." The photo shows eight-year-old son Marcel.

Otterly exhausted: This sleepy wildlife moment was captured by Douglas Ogilvie at Loch Spelve, Mull.

Top dog: "At the top of Schiehallion with our little Jack Russell during a spectacular cloud inversion," says Nicola Orr. "Was a magical day."

Am bushed: "A curious Fallow deer among the gorse, showing off its new antlers," says Val Ross after being spotted.

Keeping track: "This feat of engineering has been carrying trains across the silvery River Tay for over 100 years and still looks good," says Ian Talboys of the Tay Rail Bridge in Dundee. "The ironwork below the bridge deck almost looks like the bridge is wearing a kilt on each stanchion. The graceful curve of the bridge contrasts with the storm clouds brewing overhead."

Winging it: "I managed to take this picture of an acrobatic starling apparently hanging in mid air close to the feeders in my back garden," says David Jackson of Kilmacolm. "Starlings are beautiful birds and make for fantastic photo subjects."

Rein clouds: Horse action at The Drymen Show, under an impressive sky, as seen by Lara Hughes.

An impressive line-up: "Greylag geese formation flying at Harris," says Stewart Kerr.

Clouding the issue: This incoming storm over Bennachie, from the top of Hill of Fare, was captured by Gillian Thomson, who says she thankfully made it home before the rain hit.

Water taxi: "Goosander ferrying a couple of its tired young after a feeding frenzy with siblings," says Marcus Tyler of Perth.

It's gone full circle: Nancy Mcintyre spotted this archway reflected in the water, making it whole, at Milngavie Reservoir.

Handy man: "We visit the Isle of Lewis at least once a year to visit my mother's resting place in Stornoway," says Raj Gola from West Bromwich, who was photographed by fiancée Monika Pawelczak.

Fan zone: "Peacocks putting on a display for me," says Jimmy Mason at Pittencrieff.

Love ewe: "Took this picture while visiting Lochinver," says Kim Sear.

Best Seat in the house? "Arthur's Seat from the top of Allermuir in between the downpours," says Matt Aldridge from a high vantage point.

Appetite of a bird: "Here’s a wee blue tit heading to feed the babies in one of our bird boxes," says Lorraine Campbell in her Dumbarton garden. "He was back and forth a few times so the chicks must be getting big."

Heads in the cowds: Carol MacFarlane spotted this "seemingly contented" Cumbrae pair.

Pretty in pink: This picturesque scene on the side of Loch Glass and the eastern side of Ben Wyvis in the Highlands was photographed by Lynn Bridges.

Cygnet ring: "Was amused by the antics of this cute little family at Kilmardinny Loch," says Jan Land.

Feeling a little sluggish: "This little sea slug was spotted when enjoying a dive at Wee Cumbrae down in the Clyde," says Robin Blythe.

Some light rain: "Reflections in a puddle in a Leith street," says Elisabeth McCulloch.

The eyes have it: "Close up of a damselfly taken on the Union Canal on a sunny afternoon," says Barry Manson.

Two birds in the hand: Hazel Llewellyn photographed granddaughter Yasmine and her beaming smile thanks to some friendly pigeons in Aberdeen. "Both my granddaughters love to feed the pigeons," she says.

Photo baaa-mbed: "After walking up to photograph the Bonnet Stane in Fife in recent misty weather, I was photo-bombed by two inquisitive lambs," says Chris Probert.

Blues cruise: "Cunard’s new liner the Queen Anne sailing down the Firth of Forth before being officially named in Liverpool," says Pat Christie of this atmospheric late evening shot.

Sunburgh Head: "Sunset at Sumburgh Head with Fitful Head in the background," says Heidi Obern.

The Skye at night: "I took this photo overlooking Harris in the Outer Hebrides," says Mehmet Karatay. "The shower in the mid-distance, lit up by the setting sun, makes Bracadale on Skye look like it's on fire."

Sun flowers: "Magnificent sunset to end the day," says Steph Virot at Belhaven, East Lothian.

Catch of the day: "Looking out from Machrihanish, Jura is silhouetted in the distance as the sun's afterglow paints the backdrop of the sky shades of pink," says Robert Westerman of this stunning capture to round off our selection this week. "The perfect way to spend a summer night in Kintyre."
