Police launch murder probe after Glasgow stabbing

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a 27-year-old man died following a stabbing in Glasgow on Saturday.

He has been named by police as Brian Gough, from the Springburn area in the city.

Police said Mr Gough was attacked at about 17:00 on Saracen Street in Possil.

Emergency services attended and transported him to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he later died.

Police said they were looking to trace two men.

The first man was described as white, in his 30s, wearing a light blue top and black shorts.

The second man was also white, also in his 30s and wearing a white top with black shorts and black trainers.

Officers have urged people to contact the major investigation team, external with any information, which can be submitted anonymously.

Det Ch Insp Graham McCreadie: “Our thoughts are with Brian’s family and friends at this very difficult time, and we will continue to support them as our enquiries continue.

“Following a post mortem examination, Brian’s death is being treated as murder and extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“As our extensive inquiries continue, I want to reassure people there will be an increased police presence in the local area and anyone with any concerns can speak to these officers.”
