Guests at Butlin's in Skegness have reported having to cut their holidays short because of sickness.

Butlin's said it was aware of a "small number of sickness incidents" and had since ordered enhanced cleaning.

While the cause of the illness is yet to be confirmed, some reported norovirus-type symptoms.

Others claimed they had been told to isolate, or vacate the site immediately.

A Butlin’s spokesperson said: "We have a small number of sickness incidents reported on resort.

"In line with our strict hygiene and cleaning standards we have introduced a number of enhanced service measures to keep our guests and team healthy and ensure everyone can enjoy their holiday."

Last month, Butlin's at Bognor Regis in West Sussex, closed to day visitors for the bank holiday weekend because of sickness.

Sickness was also reported at the Skegness resort last August.

The BBC has contacted the UK Health Security Agency for a comment in relation to the latest reports.
