The police watchdog is investigating officers’ contact with a man who was found dead at a block of flats in Aberdeen.
Police were called to reports of an injured man at Elphinstone Court in the Tillydrone area of the city on 15 January.
Jamie Forbes, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lee Smith, also 37, has been charged with murder and made no plea when he appeared at court last month. He was remanded in custody.
The Crown Office has confirmed it has asked the Police Investigations Review Commissioner (Pirc) to investigate the circumstances of Mr Forbes' death.
Once the investigation is completed a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
