The times of some sailings by the island’s flagship passenger ferry to and from Lancashire have been brought forward due to tidal conditions.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company said Thursday morning’s journey by the Manxman to Heysham Port would depart 45 minutes early at 08:00 BST.

Its return to Douglas is due to leave an hour early at 13:15.

The vessel’s evening sailing and its overnight return have been brought forward by 30 and 25 minutes respectively.

The tidal disruption comes ahead of expected high winds expected across the island over the weekend.

Ronaldsway Met Office warned Saturday was likely to be “unseasonably windy” with a “risk of travel disruption and slight structural damage”.

The conditions on Sunday were also expected to be “very windy, especially for the time of year”, with a risk of coastal overtopping at times of high tide around the island on both days.
