Images have been released showing how Leeds' landmark Tetley's building may appear after redevelopment.

The former brewery, on the city's south bank, is set to be transformed to include a bar, restaurant and events space.

Developer Vastint, which bought the property from Carlsberg in 2022, said it would submit its plans formally to the city council in the new year.

The proposals will form part of the new Aire Park district being built around the site over the coming years.

Simon Schofield, Head of Development North at Vastint UK, said: “The Tetley is an iconic building within Leeds and we’re excited to finally reveal our plans for its future.

"As custodians of this important piece of the city’s history, we have been working hard with our architects Supervene and Enjoy Design, Leeds City Council and others to look not just at how we preserve this beautiful building but continue its evolution and ensure it remains at the heart of both Aire Park and Leeds’ south bank for another 100 years."

The brewery was the home of Tetley's beer-making in Leeds for nearly 200 years, until it closed in 2011.

An art gallery and museum devoted to the history of the site opened in 2013, but that will close on 17 December after its lease expires.

Developers say a number of historical features in and around the building will be retained, including the old Tetley's boardroom and war memorial.

A new food hall is earmarked for the building's ground floor, with a bar and restaurant in the cellar and business and office space on the upper tiers.

The scheme forms part of the wider development of the Aire Park area, which will include 1,400 new homes and an urban park.
