Motorists are being warned of overnight road closures as work continues on the A417 missing link scheme.

The £460m project aims to improve a traffic bottleneck and crash blackspot at the Air Balloon roundabout near Cheltenham in Gloucestershire.

National Highways said a one-mile (1.6km) stretch of Leckhampton Hill would be shut between the roundabout and Ullenwood Manor Road to allow vegetation clearance work to take place.

The closure will be overnight from 21:00 BST on Saturday to 06:00 on Sunday and from 21:00 on Sunday to 06:00 on Monday.

The missing link scheme will create a three-mile (4.8km) dual carriageway on the A417 between Gloucester and Cirencester.

As well as the dual carriageway, a number of "green bridges" will also be built to boost wildlife in the area.

The new road is expected to be completed and open by 2027.
