Portbury Hundred road to close overnight

A major road is to close overnight to allow for "essential" pothole and gully repairs, North Somerset Council has said.
The A369 Portbury Hundred road near Bristol will be shut to traffic between 20:00 BST on Sunday and 06:00 on Monday.
The closure will be for the entire length of the road from the junction with the M5 J19 interchange to its junction with Sheepway.
"We appreciate that this will cause some disruption but we would ask people to be patient while these essential works are completed," said Cllr Hannah Young.
'Wear and tear'
"The Portbury Hundred receives a huge amount of wear and tear every day and is in need of urgent treatment to fix potholes," added Ms Young, who is the member responsible for roads at the council.
She admitted there had been complaints about the quality of the road surface but pointed to the city council's investment in highways.
"I completely recognise the frustrations of our residents with the condition of our roads which is a country-wide problem.
"Last year the council allocated an additional £2.5m in local funds for road maintenance to the £7.5m we received direct from government for this purpose, while almost half of local authorities are cutting or freezing these budgets," she said.
"Our new highway contracts will enable us to make that money go further – but that’s against the backdrop of a £16bn national gap in funding that is needed to bring our roads back into an effective condition."
The work on the Portbury Hundred is being carried out the council's maintenance contractor North Somerset Environment Company (NSEC).
The route will reopen from 0600 BST on Tuesday 14 May.
