A lifeboat crew was scrambled to search for an injured dolphin reported in waters off the south-west coast of Scotland.

The Stranraer RNLI inshore boat was called out at about 12:30 to the waters of south Loch Ryan.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue also attended but no trace of the mammal could be found.

The RNLI team said it appeared the dolphin had been caught in fishing gear but had managed to free itself.
