Man remains 'critical' after house blast

A man remains critically ill in hospital more than two weeks after a house explosion.

The blast happened at a property in Coronation Terrace, Willington, at about 01:30 BST on 24 June.

Durham Police confirmed the man, in his 40s, remained in a critical condition after being seriously injured.

The force added an investigation into the explosion was ongoing.

Residents were told to leave their home as a precaution after the blast and the affected property was cordoned off.

A young German Shephard died, police said.

At the time, neighbours spoke of their shock over what happened, with neighbour Grace Porter telling the BBC how her family had lost everything.
