Play park gets new equipment upgrade

A play park in Devon has been revamped with "new and improved" equipment for children.
West Devon Borough Council said the park at Bannawell Street in Tavistock was no longer fit for purpose before the work and it had chosen equipment catering to children of all ages.
The council said to help meet its priority of supporting west Devon communities, it had provided £59,559 for the work.
Tavistock Town Council, which owns the park, put in a further £25,000 following a public consultation to select designs of the equipment.
West Devon Borough Council said the opening of the park was delayed due to poor ground conditions and bad weather but it opened in time for the summer holidays on 26 July.
Lead member for leisure, health and wellbeing, councillor Jane Elliott said: "As well as the play equipment it has a nice open grassed area, basketball court and pretty stream to enjoy.
"It’s a good place to relax, get active and spend some time in the sunshine."
Mayor of Tavistock councillor Paul Ward said he was delighted the park was open, and how it was a "great example of what can be achieved by two local authorities".
