In pictures: Praise for 'beautiful' train station

The man behind one of Britain's "nicest" railway stations has been praised for his work.

The floral displays at Bridlington station are the passion project of Andrew Loxton, who works for train firm Northern.

Darren Allsopp, stakeholder manager for Northern, which looks after the station, told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's incredible, it's such a beautiful floral display."

A member of the public at the station told the BBC it was the "nicest station they'd ever seen".

Former barrow boys were among the guests when a new Barrow Boy statue was unveiled at Bridlington station

Last month a new "Barrow Boy" sculpture was unveiled at the station.

Sculpted by Stephen Carvill, it commemorates the children who earned a small fee by using wheelbarrows to carry holidaymakers’ luggage to hotels and guesthouses between the 1930s and the early 80s.

"Anyone who hasn't must visit the Barrow Boy sculpture and the gardens that Andrew and the team look after," Mr Allsopp said.

He described Mr Loxton as an "extremely dedicated member of staff".
