Man arrested as knife recovered after fight

A man has been arrested after a fight that saw a knife recovered in Leicester.

Police were called to the Fosse Road South area at 11:29 BST on Monday.

A man in his 30s was found with injuries including a cut to his arm. He was taken to hospital but later discharged.

The arrested man, 40, was held at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

The suspect was also taken to hospital and has since been discharged, Leicestershire Police said. He remains in custody.

A stretch of Fosse Road North was closed during the night and reopened on Tuesday morning.

The force said it had recovered a knife from the scene and was continuing inquiries in the area to establish the full circumstances.

Det Sgt Georgina White said: "We are speaking to a number of people in the area but do ask anyone who has any information to make contact with us if you have not already done so.

"If you have any CCTV, doorbell footage or dashcam footage from the area late yesterday evening or during the early hours of this morning, please also get in touch."
