A palliative care charity has been given £100,000 in funding to support families that are struggling financially.
The money, awarded to Compton Care in Wolverhampton, will help provide bedding, food and equipment to patients and their families.
City of Wolverhampton Council handed out the government funding to help make finances easier for people at the end of their life.
Wolverhampton councillor Stephen Simkins said working with Compton Care would mean people could get help quickly and directly.
He said it was heart-breaking to know that some people battling terminal illnesses could not afford enough food or heating for their homes.
Compton Care has been supporting people with life-limiting conditions for more than 40 years.
The charity said it would be able to provide families with many items, including new clothes, if someone has rapidly lost weight, and shopping vouchers to cover food.
