Woman dies after being hit by car on crossing

Two women were hit by a car in Westgate-on-Sea

A woman has died after being hit by a car while using a pedestrian crossing in Kent.

Kent Police said a blue Ford Fiesta collided with with two women using the crossing at traffic lights in Canterbury Road, Westgate-on-Sea, at about 17:06 GMT on Saturday.

One of the pedestrians, a woman in her 70s, died at the scene. The second was taken to hospital and remains in a serious yet stable condition.

The car stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made, said police.

Anyone who saw what happened, or who may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, is asked to contact Kent Police.
