Three men have been arrested on suspicion of pointing an imitation gun out of a window of a car.

Devon and Cornwall Police said it was called to reports of a firearm being pointed out of a vehicle traveling from Newton Abbot towards Torquay at about 17:00 BST on Tuesday.

A National Police Air Service helicopter and armed police officers searched the area and found the car parked in Plympton with a replica assault rifle in it, police said.

Three 19-year-olds from Plymouth were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Police said two of the teenagers were released on bail and one was the subject of no further action.
