New course records set in city's annual 10k race

New course records have been set at Run Norwich.
The 10km (6.2 miles) race was moved from its traditional high summer slot after it was postponed in 2022 due to extreme heat.
Jonathan Escalante-Phillips completed the race, external in 30 minutes and 41 seconds - nine seconds faster than the previous men’s record, while Holly Archer shaved five seconds off the previous women’s record by finishing in 34 minutes and 38 seconds.
More than 8,000 runners are thought to have taken part in the annual event, which passes through the city centre.
This year for the first time a one-mile (1.6km) junior race, external was held.
Dozens of roads in Norwich were closed, external for the two races and public transport disrupted, external.
Run Norwich is organised by the Community Sports Foundation, Norwich City FC’s official charity partner, and takes in some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
The inaugural event took place in 2015.
