Fire crews tackle major blaze in Scarborough

Fire crews were called to Grange Avenue just after midday

Fire crews have attended the scene of a large blaze which spread across several homes in Scarborough.

A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said its crews were called to Grange Avenue at about 12:10 BST on Friday.

The fire, which had broken out on the roof of one property on the street, had spread to neighbouring homes, they added.

No injuries were reported from the incident.

North Yorkshire Police said four properties were believed to have been damaged by the blaze.

The force added that it was "grateful for the patience and understanding of the public" while the incident was dealt with.
