Suspicious package report was false alarm

Roads in Edinburgh were closed and a cordon put in place after police received a report that a suspicious package had been delivered to a commercial premises.

Police were called out to the property on Princes Street at about 13:00.

They evacuated the building as a precaution and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended while the package was examined.

However, it later emerged that the report was a false alarm and the incident was stood down.
