Evening ferry crossings to resume
- Published
Evening ferry crossings are to resume after being cancelled for more than two months.
The Shields Ferry, which crosses the River Tyne, stopped some of its services in November due to staffing issues.
Replacement bus services were not brought in because transport operator Nexus said passenger numbers were too low.
The company which runs the ferry services said later sailings would resume between North and South Shields from Monday.
"The ferry timetable will return to normal after it was temporarily changed at the end of last year due to an unexpected challenge with crew availability," the company said.
"This issue has now been resolved. We are grateful to customers for their patience while this period of disruption was in place."
Evening crossings will run until 20:00 GMT from Monday to Wednesday and until 22:40 GMT from Thursday to Saturday.
Ferry services on Sundays are unchanged and will run from 10.15 to 18:00 GMT.
