Appeal after dead dogs found dumped in bushes

The dogs were found in Bearmore Playing Field in Cradley Heath

The RSPCA is appealing for information after two dead dogs were found hidden in park bushes.

A walker discovered the bodies in Bearmore Playing Field in Cradley Heath in the West Midlands and reported it to the RSPCA.

The charity said it was likely the female bull breeds died within days of each other before being left there as one dog was more decomposed than the other.

“We’re now appealing to the public to help us as we investigate what has happened to these poor dogs,” RSPCA Inspector Laura Brewerton said.

A walker made the discovery and contacted the RSPCA

“Both dogs were emaciated so it was a shocking and pitiful sight to see their bodies and raises concerns that these dogs had been neglected and poorly kept for some time before their death," she added.

The charity appealed for anybody who saw anything suspicious in the area before the bodies were found on 30 August to get in contact.

Latest figures about cruelty to dogs showed an increase in the West Midlands in 2023 with 2,969 reports being received, compared to 2,658 in 2022, the charity said.
