More than 120 tiles created by Bradfordians when they visited the opening weekend of the new Darley Street Market in July have been installed at the site's courtyard entrance.

The tiles were commissioned by Bradford Markets and include pieces capturing the city's architecture, the market traders' fingerprints, Bingley Five Rise Locks and a tribute to city-born artist David Hockney.

Bradford Markets worked with Salt Pots, a ceramic studio in Saltaire, to run special workshops at the market.

"We feel truly honoured and grateful to have been involved in such a fantastic installation," Laura Sagar, from the ceramics firm, said.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, deputy leader of Bradford Council, said: "It was great to see so many people engaging in the tile-painting activity over our hugely successful opening weekend for Darley Street Market.

"The creativity they have shown really complements the other artistic pieces at the market including the Marcus Levine nail art of David Hockney which is in Darley Street Kitchen."
