Two men from West Yorkshire have been jailed for their part in a £100m plot to supply what police described as a “boutique” brand of Class A drugs.

At Leeds Crown Court on Friday, Mohammed Tasadiq Khan, 26, from Mirfield, was jailed for 16 years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin and possession of criminal property.

Meanwhile, Hayaan Alam, 20, from Dewsbury, who had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin, was jailed for five years.

Following sentencing, Det Insp Chris Rukin, from West Yorkshire Police, said: “The drugs involved were destined for locations across the country where they would have contributed to untold violence and misery in those communities.”

As well as jail time, Khan was made the subject of a Serious Crime Prevention Order, which will run for five years on his release.

The men supplied blocks of "boutique" cocaine in kilogram quantities, police said

Police said 10 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of £1m had been found after officers apprehended a car in Dewsbury on 13 October last year which was registered to Alam, of Pilgrim Crescent, Dewsbury Moor.

Seven kilos of cocaine were found inside the car itself, officers said.

Khan, of Fir Avenue, Ravensthorpe, was linked and later arrested in Dewsbury on 17 October.

Police then located a safety deposit box belonging to him and recovered £100,000 of criminal property, including cash and gold bullion worth £80,000.

Officers also recovered a laptop from Khan which contained spreadsheets detailing the gang’s profits, showing annual turnover and earnings projected to be £1.3m.

Meanwhile, they found details of three properties he owned, one in Dubai and two in Pakistan, which were valued at £1.3m, as well as a receipt for the purchase of a dog valued at more than £18,000.

'Large-scale conspiracy'

According to police, further investigations established that Khan was responsible for the import and distribution of at least 1,000 kilos of cocaine and heroin over a 32-month period from 1 February 2021 to 18 October 2023.

The street value of the Class A drugs was estimated at up to £100m.

Analysis of the gang’s telephone records showed drug deals being arranged at locations across England, including Birmingham, Darlington, Teesside, South Yorkshire, Peterborough and Manchester, police said.

After the pair were sentenced, Det Insp Rukin said: “This was a large-scale criminal conspiracy to supply wholesale amounts of Class A drugs across the country.

“The evidence gathered by our Programme Precision investigation team confirmed Khan was the ringleader of an established organised crime group that supplied heroin and cocaine nationwide, while Alam was a trusted courier who delivered the goods on his behalf.”

A third man, Adnan Shabir, 31, of St John Walk, Westtown, Dewsbury, is due to be sentenced on 4 October for conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin.
