Agricultural show apologises for access issues

A record number of visitors turned up to an agricultural show, although some people reportedly struggled with access issues.

The Minsterley Show in Shropshire saw more than 5,000 people attend on Saturday.

However, some visitors queued for up to an hour to access the new site near Cruckton, west of Shrewsbury.

Chairman Tom Sellers said a crop field was being used as a car park and it had not been harvested, due to the weather.

The show dates back to 1875 and this year was based at Manor Farm.

Mr Sellers said a lot of lessons had been learnt and next year organisers would make sure there were more points of access into the show, as he described the parking as "tight".

"Access is my number one priority now, as ultimately I want as many people enjoying themselves as quickly as possible," he added.
