A footbridge has officially opened, replacing one that was closed because of safety reasons in January 2023.

The new bridge spanning the River Blackwater at Shepherd Meadows was opened during a ceremony organised by Bracknell Forest Council.

It was prioritised because of its importance for connectivity and recreation and it forms part of the Blackwater Valley Path, a 23-mile (37km) path that follows the river.

Guy Gillbe, the council's cabinet member for planning, transport and countryside, thanked residents for their patience.
