A suspect item that prompted the evacuation of a bank in Nottingham city centre was later found to be non-suspicious, police say.

Customers were ordered to leave the Halifax branch in St Peter's Square after the item was discovered on Monday.

A short time later, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "We can now confirm the item is non-suspicious and there were no threats to the public.

"We would like to thank everyone for their patience while the matter was resolved."
