A Cornish village is facing disruption after a lorry had to be abandoned after getting stuck in a narrow lane.

Residents of Forder, near Saltash, said the HGV was carrying seed when it took a wrong turn, becoming wedged between a house and a wall on Monday morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police said surrounding roads were closed on Wednesday as crews attempted to recover the vehicle.

A lorry became stuck in the same location in 2007, requiring a crane to lift it out.

Colin Brown, who lives in the area, said: "Having a lorry stuck in the road here every 16 years is probably the most interesting thing that happens here."

Discussing the last time a lorry became wedged on the road, fellow resident Derek Pilgrim added: "They did a wonderful job and lifted it right over the top there, no trouble.

"But it was a smaller lorry. This one, I think, is much bigger."
