Fifteen acres of crops in Shropshire have been destroyed in a wildfire.

The fire broke out at Spout Lane, Little Wenlock, on Sunday evening with crews from five stations attending.

A fire break was set up to try and stop the flames spreading further and a nearby farmer also used his machinery to help.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue said it appeared dust or lint in farm machinery had caused a spark which started the fire.

The fire service also said it was encouraging farmers to check their machinery and ensure it was well maintained before harvesting crops.

It said the land was extremely dry and therefore more prone to combustion.
