Residents in an area of Devon were evacuated from their homes on Sunday after a suspected ordnance was found.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to a property in Warren Road in Torquay at about 15:35 BST and a cordon was put in place.

Residents were asked to evacuate their properties and a Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team attended and removed the item.

Those who left their properties have since returned, but police have yet to confirm how many residents were affected.
